Ded

Ded
In Egyptian myth a symbol of Osiris. In the Ani papyrus it is represented as a pillar with cross-pieces, with human arms holding the flail and the crook—the emblems of sovereignty. It is thought to represent the backbone or skeleton of Osiris returned to life, in which case the horizontal cross-pieces may be ribs. An alternative assumption is that it represents the tree trunk in which the body of Osiris was hidden by Isis. It was, after the eye of Horus, the most popular amulet in Egypt. Alternative spellings are Tat and Tet.
